One of our favourite parts of the job here at North Film is that, through the projects we make, we get to join companies and people on their journey. We get an inside - and sometimes early - look into what makes people tick and what drives their passion. In collaborating with FRIDA ROME on their kickstarter project for their WEEK/END vegan bag, we got that passion in spades!
For founders and life-long friends Rebecca and Natalie, it was important that the bag captured that “desire to make a difference, not only to the lives of animals, but to women’s lives as well.” As they go on to say, “inside every creation, we capture the rebellious spirit of women with a thirst for life.” A longtime passion for both, they were looking to Kickstarter to expand the WEEK/END beyond their stunning prototype bag. In need of a cinematographer to put their vision on to the small screen, they turned to North Film.
Captured over three days of shooting, we filmed behind the scenes of the photoshoot for the product, capturing the fun, playful side that existed onset. The following two days were jam-packed working on the storyboarded concept, filming beautiful and spike-y lifestyle footage, combined with stunning macro shots, highlighting the deconstructable nature of the WEEK/END. Supporting this, we filmed candid footage of the two life-long friends at the heart of the project to help pull everything together. The shoots wrapped, we then handed over the source files for the team at FRIDA ROME to work their magic.
We’re delighted with the final product, as is the client with our work. More importantly, what could have been long stressful shoot days went off without a hitch with everyone commenting afterwards how laid back, fun and relaxed it felt, something we always aim for with all productions. The Kickstarter has since launched and hit it’s funding target within just a couple of hours! To date it has raised almost triple its intended target with over a week still to go.
